Been wanting to give a traditional a try for a while but never found one that tripped my fancy, until today. Stumbled onto the Northwoods Gladiator Double end Jack in S60V on KSF and knew that was to be my first. Not the slimmest or the lightest but looks to be be a robust well made knife. Can't wait to get it.

That's a good choice. I'm a single blade fan myself, and have a Northwoods Forest Jack. I like it a lot.

I was just about settled on a Canoe but wanted the extra corrosion resistance for my first one.

What a way to get started! Great Eastern construction, Bark River convex grind, and S60V. That's a nice combination.

If you're looking for corrosion resistance, GEC and Canal Street both offer knives in 440C. CS also makes some with 14-4CrMo, which is the equivalent of 154CM/ATS-34. Although neither steel will have the edge retention of S60V, they do have good corrosion resistance and are more than adequate for everyday use for most people.

Welcome to the Traditional Forum.

Nice choice! I like your style. Welcome to our little corner of Bladeforums. Hope you love your new knife!

I thought that traditionals were for my dad and grandad......until I got a nice case as a gift. That's how it started, and it is far from finished! I just bought my 10th custom to go with my production versions, and they see more pocket time than my "modern" folders. Enjoy the knife! Btw....my bank account says you are a terrible person, because I am going to check out the very knife that you just posted

Thanks for the welcome fellas. I can see this genre becoming a bit of a habit. There are several models that I'm interested in but they are 1095 blades. Nothing against the steel at all, I just have corrosive sweat and see myself neglecting the knife.

Welcome, ceptor, and a great first traditional. Even though they are a little hard to find, as they are of limited production, the Schatt & Morgan File and Wire series knives have excellent ATS-34 stainless blades. The first three series (I, II, III) seem to have the best fit and finish.

Thanks for the heads up BM.

Mr. R, I think a single blade will be my next. That Forest Jack is nice, I was looking at the Bullet too but gotta find one in at least 440. When I say I have corrosive sweat I mean it. A few years ago on a plain clothes detail I got lazy and just threw my GLOCK in the safe without a wipe down, but hey it a GLOCK rite? Next day on duty had rust in slide serrations on the ejection port side, I'm a lefty. Since then I've been very mindfull of wiping my EDC stuff down but I've been known to be forgrtful after a long shift.

E1980 there are still six left at KSF.
