Hi Everybody,

Wow what a party !!!!
we had about 15 folks show up.
3 knife makers and a some serious knife parting folks

Now let me say I am sorry this is not the best documented M&G as I was busy for most of it and could not shoot, build, cook and host while holding the camera :)

1st we went up the canyon to go shooting, only 5 people went but it sure was fun, Some "work" rifles lots of .22's a PS90 and a FN 5.7 pistol, Benelli, and a few AR's
shooting into the side of a tall mountain and woods all around is just awesome and the drive up (10 min from my house :) ) with all the leaves changing to deep reds and oranges was just a beautiful sight.

sorry no shooting pics, I will do better next time.

Next Ryan Weeks and I went to get more supplies to make the competition table, after about an hour we were done.
Thank you to Ben, Zach and the others who helped get it all together.

Next the rules;

1. Do not cut me or Mrs. Brown
2. See #1

be careful
have a good

and use a lanyard

here is how the competition went;

stage 1
3/4" free hanging manilla rope cut in one whack

stage 2
2X4 chop

stage 3
water bottle chop you have to chop through the lid

stage 4
Golf ball chop, once you release the ball you must chop it while it is moving

stage 5
1" wooden dowel chop, must chop dowel with one chop

That is it for time, everything not done adds 2 sec to your time, 100 sec if you do not at least attempt it :)

first up Ben with a old PCC khukri

Awesome!

So, Zach Ryan and Chad were top 3 finishers in that order?

Congrats to all that attended:cool:

Nice to see you enjoying your new digs--looks like some gorgeous country.

I love Ryan Weeks' designs--looks like he can handle a blade as well as he makes 'em. Surprised he didn't use a Vegan Croc. ;)

Great report--thanks David!

Now THAT'S SCARY--in an enchanting sort of way. :)

Very cool! Did you notice any uneasy neighbors wondering what the heck was going on?

It sure was fun.

There will be plenty more.
I am thinking in the winter, Flaming 2X4 chop :)

Lexi, one of my neighbors showed up ............to chop :) Colin is a neighbor and my lawnmower man :)

I wish more Busse folks showed though ? Savage Bear (Ben) is a Busse guy.

It looks like everyone had a great time  It's cool that your neighbor wasn't too freaked out about the fact that you were chopping a bunch of stuff up.

Very cool, looks like a good time.

How difficult is it to cut a golf ball? If a blade has a thin edge, optimized for wood chopping, thinner than a typical Busse edge; would it risk damage on a golf ball chop?

I saw a few videos on Ryan's fb page, didn't know there was infi present. Looks like a blast, wish I was closer.

Great turn out, Dave! It looks like you all had an awesome time.
