Did some of the first version Bucklites ( with the 2 piece scales) spill over into 1987?
I've noticed looking around on the web that some have the 1987 tang stamp and have the first version 2 piece scales. And I've also seen some of the second version, 1 Piece scales that also have the 1987 tang stamp. Is this correct? Thanks.

As far I know it's correct... Here a 2 piece with a 87 tang stamp... :)

Thanks, I figured you would know. I picked up a 426, haven't received it yet, but from the pictures, it has a dot as well as the 1987 symbol. Have you ever seen one like that? I have 2 old 422 with just a dot, but I haven't seen one with the dot as well as the symbol? It is marked 426 .>

Thanks! I guess with those, you the old style date code (the dots) and the new date codes with the symbol.

jec88, the dot was added to the blade, because they change something on the knife during production...
if I remember right... :)

Alright, so I have the same 426 as the srimshaw version shown above. I would like some more info if anyone can help. I'm not very well versed in older blades, and have particular trouble finding others like mine. Was the buck model 426 with the deer scrimshaw patern only made for one year? Also, why is it so dang hard to find another one. I would like to find one for my wife, but everywhere I look nobody has one.

I believe the scrimshaw deer (and ducks) were only made in '87. Not going to be easy to find them, but patience and persistence can payoff.

Colton, I believe they only made one year of them (deer one)... If I remember right...
There harder to find now... But they do show up here and there... I been collecting
Bucklites for a long time now... The price of them now are way to much... You can
buy a nice sweet custom Buck Knife from Buck for less or about the same...
Some of these Bucklites are going for over a $100.00 now... Why there just plastic...
Selectors are way up now and even a any selector blades are $30 up Why...
I started a Bucklite thread here on the forum a few years ago and ever since than
the price of them have gone way up... Why... Who knows... I even have a hard
time finding them any more and I need 3 of each... One of each for my 3 grand kids...
Try gun/Knife shows and swap meets... I'm always looking for them too... Good luck...

:)

FWIW my duck version is dated stamped 1989.

That's interesting. The BO list shows only 1987 w/ '87 date stamps. I guess stranger things have happened though.

Example: 2006 LE Stag 303 with a blade from 1992?

I think that's more common with the build-outs which, as the name implies are built out using different components in order to clear inventory. Least that's how I interpret them.
