I wanted to try convexing my new Sarge 7 and Sus scrofa. I used a HB 1x30 sander started at 20micron to 6 micron then stropped with black/green brk compound. The lighting was poor and I hit a few spots I didnt want to on the Sus, but I plan to use it and may strip it later anyway. I am happy but not ecstatic about the results. I haven't sharpened knives in a while plus the lighting was poor, but I feel a slight improvement. I probably need to run it a few more times, but they will cut fine now. I just want to get them like I had my esee 6. That thing was by far my best knife that I sharpened, but also the easiest. When I can get a kalamazoo I will give it another go. Figure out how to light it up better as well.

The Sus was bothering me. I went back, but with a DMT bench stone to 1200, then black/green and I did better. In the pic you can see I didnt quite make it to the edge, but it pops hair and slices paper. I got a mashed cat sheath for it, so it will be going on my duty belt soon. I hope the desk jockeys dont get worked up over it. On a different note, what would you use to touch up the spots near the choil? I have some BBQ pit spray paint, but open to better ideas. I dont care to send it in. I want this thing here.

Don't feel bad. There is nothing simple about sharpening a scrofa. Probably even more difficult without good light. A curved edge takes some practice.

Thanks Garth. Any pointers about what to use for the touch up, I don't have a spray/air gun, so either brush or spray can. Anyone else please feel free to chime in.

bored, a little more stropping, and thinner cutting

I vote for naked infi, but if your not sure about that route yet i've seen touch up paint for bed liners (might match up well) in small cans before cant remember which store has it though. South Texas here too out of McAllen.

Nice work!

i'm surprised that the scrofa survived... that negative concave belly on the Sus makes it difficult to do a good job with a belt sander, at least, i haven't figured out the technique. I've ruined a few lesser knives, and if i had similarly concave Busse, i'd probably stick to round ceramic rod. But then, i haven't had a need to take any INFI to any more than leather as yet.

Nails I was a life guard for city of mcalle. About 15yrs ago. I can't wait to get back there. If you ever sell any infi let me know. I try to get back to rgv 2 times a month.
