1x30 stropping

I currently use a leather strop belt on my HF 1x30. However, no matter what angle I hold the knife's edge at, I ALWAYS dull the knife. I've tried to hold the knife slightly shallower than the sharpening angle - and then, shallower still. Can anyone give me some tips, please? I always do better with a hand leather strop.

Sounds like you just need to stick to your hand strops. That’s how I do it.

The HF 1 x 30 moves way too fast, you are rounding your edge. I power strop but run a variable speed unit that goes down to much lower speed (I think around 1500 fps) to avoid what you are experiencing. If you don’t have anything else and don’t want to go back to stropping by hand maybe try taking the guard off the top and using the top part of the belt. The lack of slack will help prevent rounding the edge.

Move the knife faster, very light on pressure. As mentioned above it’s not ideal for stropping, but it can be done. I’ve never had a problem stropping on mine.
