Hello guys!
No need to say that I'm new to this forum and or knife making.
I'm getting my equipment set up (limited to no budget) and I just got a 1x30 belt grinder as a gift and I was wondering if it is possible to or if anyone has already done a conversion of 1x30 belt grinder to a 1x42.
Thank you in advance!

Not to go too off topic, but if you're gonna do the work, might as well build a 2 x 72. That's what I'm gonna do this winter.

I'm thinking you would have to make some pretty radical cuts on the body of the sander to make it work, not to mention the tension and tracking issues you could face. Doable? Well, anything is possible if you're handy with a welder. Should it be done? That's for you to decide. Good luck and let us know how it turns out if you do.

CollegeBladesmith,
Yeah that was my first option too. But due to limited resources and space and the extra 1x30 sander I thought of doing some work and modifications but the tension and tracking issues that you mention didn't even cross my mind.
