Any suggestions for a custom folder with a small 2-1/2" blade, but with a clip? Most I've seen that small don't seem to have one. Of course pix would be great! :p

I haven't seen a custom maker with a clip folder that small, but the Chris Reeve Mnandi has a 2.75-inch blade with clip. Looks very practical to me.

if its a custom -you can get it anyway you want-

just contact a guy who has a style you like and ask-i just did with Chuck Gedraitis- he's doing me a custom based on his gents knife-

I'm looking for 2-1/2" because it seems like that's legal to carry just about anywhere, including on school grounds (I may go watch a baseball game and forget it's in my pocket).

I thought 2" is the blade limit on school grounds, although it might be different state to state.

If it's strictly for very limited use, I'd suggest a 2" or less blade. If you want to be legal pretty much anywhere in the U.S., I think under 3" will do it. I'm sure there's plenty of custom knives that can be had with sub 3" blades.

Of course, if you keep the knife IN your pocket & not clipped to it, at times that a knife's "frowned upon", who's going to see it? Of course, not that I'd recommend that or anything.

A lot of folks have been talking about the Spyderco Native. Don't know the blade length, but it appears to be a smallish blade. I've never worried too much about being in the ballpark, if you'll excuse the expression. The only time anyone raises an eyebrow is if you have to go through a metal detector. I did, once, in a federal building, and at first the guard refused to cut me a break, which meant hand over the knife or leave. But when I explained it was my grandfather's Case knife, he waved me on through.

You'd only get in serious trouble if you pulled out a 4+ incher in a very restricted area and even then you'd probably only lose the knife. I've been to see school plays with a 6-inch Voyager in my pocket. That could get me in trouble, but you know what they say about discretion!

I have 4 small custom knives that have 2 1/2 inch blades; my Atwood Solar Arc, Matt Cucchiara Mini Scrapper, Brad Duncan Mini Whiplash, and Patrick Nihiser "Little Teaser".

A little shorter at 1 3/4" but I have a Spyderco Co-Pilot with Tufram scales and a pocket clip which I purchased in 1996. I rarely carry it now but it is a stout little knife

You might take a look at the Buck Mayo Waimea. I recently bought one and was extremely pleased with the fit, finish, and overall feel of the knife. It has a 2 5/8" S30V clip point blade, titanium handles, titanium clip, and a very stout frame lock. The Waimea is a great little knife and can be found on the net for under a $170 bucks.

I need to take better pix of these and the other ones. Oooops, the Atwood & Duncan do NOT have pocket clips! Sorry.

Ma'am you have exquisite taste.

I've made one that is 2.5" in both 1095 and AUS8 and mostly 440C off and on for myself and others for sometime. Like you I prefer a smaller blade mostly and find little use other than just appreciating and playing with the bigger ones I buy. My actual users that see the most use unless the bigger one has something special going for it are most always smaller blade models rarely over 3" and many times 2.5"

The Dodo by Spyderco is not a bad knife if you can find one but many didn't like the unconvential blade. What a handle and grip though.
