What is the blade steel on the Paragon Harley Battle Bowie/Dagger?

What is the general consensus on the quality of the Ontario Bagwell Bowies?

See, I really want a nice, big bowie. Not so much for fighting (pretty peaceful guy here) but more for camping, hiking, etc. These, except for the guards on most of them, seemed pretty general use friendly. What do you think? *Darn, 3 questions*:p

The Paragon Harley Battle-Bowie has a blade made of AUS-8A. A pretty good steel.

I am very fond of the Bagwell Hell's Belle bowie from Ontario. I have handled one of these knives and find that I like the balance. This knife costs about $50.00 to $90.00 more than the Battle-Bowie (Paragon version, not one from Larry Harley) and is in my opinion well worth the difference.

Yep, the steel in the Battle Bowie was AUS-8A.

The Ontario Bagwell Bowie's are pretty nice, but you should try to handle one before you buy. I could not get use to the 'Coffin' style handle. You can find them on Ebay, etc... in the $150.00 range.

Have you looked at the Western W-49 bowie, it's really nice.

HTH:)!!!
