I was thinking today-what is your favorite 2 blade pattern? this lead to question #2-how many 2 blade patterns are there? I was thinking, and came up with probably a dozen off the top of my head; there's probably a million. Why are 2 blades so popular? I prefer 3 blades, but that's me.

I don't even know what I am asking at this point-feel free to respond with something.
 
I have probably three or four, 2-blade patterns I like. I seem to lean more towards single blades in general for EDC. I just carry two or three with me <g>. But I do like equal ended muskrats, twin-bladed trappers, and am a recent convert to the harness jack. I count the punch as a second blade. Like many I also love the classic barlow with its two blades, though I don't really EDC a barlow. Oh yeah, a nice two-bladed hunter is something I have on my wish list too.

There are many two bladed patterns out there. If I have to narrow it down, I can't. Maybe the muskie would be my top choice for a general EDC and the HJ an easy win for specialty tool.

I'll be interested to see what other's pick as their favorite, if they can even pick just one.
 
I grew up with a barlow, so I'm admitting I'm very biased. But I also have found in my advancing years to have developed a liking for peanuts. I was never drawn to this knife pattern untill the last year or two. After trying a yellow handle Case in CV, I've become very impressed by what a nice knife it is.

Yep, got that particular one too. You are quite right, Jackknife, in that it is a fine little knife. Mine walks and talks, the springs are surprisingly strong for the size. It is well put together and carries very easily.

Did I mention I can't choose just one? ;)

Harness jacks are the best, with many uses relevant to my life, followed closely by canoes, arguably the best pocket/ knife matchup in the known universe!
Barlows are great, but a bit chunky with 2 blades. I have an interesting 2 blade that carries and uses nicely, a wharncliffe penknife! Sculptural, and useful; pleasant to be with, it's like having a beautiful girl friend!! see below

I really like Queen's canoe pattern and the S&M Railsplitter (in 2 or 3 blade). I especially like the thin single spring set-up - rides in pockets nicely.
 
I like the German version of the Copperhead pattern, which is about 3 ¾ inches closed with one clip point blade and a “skinning” blade of equal length. It seems that most of the German manufacturers (Boker, Kissing Crane, etc.) offer this particular Copperhead variation.

I’ve been EDCing an Eye Brand one lately. (Who knows what I’ll carry next week, though! :) ) It fits perfectly in the hand and is a good size for pocket carry.

The clip point blade is the one I use most of the time. I sharpened it to a coarser finish. The skinning blade is extremely thin and has a more polished edge for push cutting. That one is truly scary-sharp. :eek:

I gotta go with Cerulean on this one. I've got a couple of Bulldog Copperheads that are fine EDC carry options in Carbon steel. Of course, a good ole canoe will work in a pinch, though. ;)
 
Wow, I managed to write that whole earlier reply without even referencing my latest acquisition. I'm starting to worry the heat is getting to me. I just picked up a 1974 Case Black Delrin 31SAB balloon jack for forty bucks at the local Case dealer!! After looking at a bunch of the new CV models, and not finding one with sufficient spring tension or walk and talk, the owner directed me to the back of the store and pulled out this beauty.

Springs like a bear trap, half stops, one thick clip blade, and a thin pen blade make for a real workhorse. Wished they still had something like this in the line up. Can't wait to get an edge on it and put it through its paces. :D

My favorite 2 bladers?...Gotta be those Teardrop Jacks.

After Teardrops, Case "54" pattern Trappers are a very close second.
