7:00 in the morning & I'm sitting here touching up a few edges, working on the last of them, my Boker Plus Subcom.
Since I got this knife, it's almost always on me, fits perfectly in the watch pocket of a pair of jeans, unobtrusive, and it seems to hold up under a lot of use before it needs sharpening.
It has a small handle but doesn't slip because it fits into my hand with that big choil. It was designed very much with last-ditch self-defense in mind, which is why it has such a positive grip.
I really really like this knife, and it's not the price that does it, since I've got a lot of the high-priced stuff to carry, too.
Make sure you get a Boker PLUS, not a Boker MAGNUM Subcom, since the Plus has the AUS-8 steel, a serious upgrade from the Magnum's 420J2.
Check out
this page where you can see some variety -- the Wharcom with its wharnecliff point for precision cutting, and the tan Subcom which has a combo edge -- part serrated for rope or plastic banding.
I don't think you're looking for the fixed blade, but part of the reason for its higher price is the excellent 440C steel. You could keep it in mind for later.
