Tend to like Spyderco's but will consider others. A $60 retail limit. Not over 2 inches and enough of a handle to hang on to. What are the top dogs? Like the Co-pilot but it is a bit over the price limit. Looking at the Byrd line but it seems they have no handle in a 2". Want it for limited EDC and to maybe use for defense in a pinch. Carry a Native normally, but some places I go only allow 2" max!!

dodo sounds perfect but blade is just over, cutting edge just under 2 inches. Not sure if that'll work for ya.

Lava or Dodo.

Chive or maybe Scallion by Kershaw perhaps.

Since you tend to like Spyderco's, then why not get yourself a Spin? Great knife!! It is a cool little framelock. Also, as suggested, a Lava or Dodo.

Great information! Thanks everyone. I have handled a few Kershaw's including the Leek and for some reason the button to open the blade seems to go under my finger-nail and hurt like he@#, am I the only one? (Carried a Schrade Clip Hanger for a long time and loved the plastic opening tab.) The DoDo does not seem to do it for me, and is over the length limit, and the Lava looks great but is way too much. Spin may still be an option though, got to love the web!
The Boker SUBCOM seems to look like a winner, new to me though. Anyone have anything negitive to say about this little guy? Got to get my mitt on one to know if it could be a winner. Great price I see. Any others to look at? Thank you for the great suggestions! ;)

Lava is on sale for a very good price at Newgraham.com

I just ordered me one for like $78 total shipping and all.

7:00 in the morning & I'm sitting here touching up a few edges, working on the last of them, my Boker Plus Subcom. :)

Since I got this knife, it's almost always on me, fits perfectly in the watch pocket of a pair of jeans, unobtrusive, and it seems to hold up under a lot of use before it needs sharpening.

It has a small handle but doesn't slip because it fits into my hand with that big choil. It was designed very much with last-ditch self-defense in mind, which is why it has such a positive grip.

I really really like this knife, and it's not the price that does it, since I've got a lot of the high-priced stuff to carry, too.

Make sure you get a Boker PLUS, not a Boker MAGNUM Subcom, since the Plus has the AUS-8 steel, a serious upgrade from the Magnum's 420J2.

Check out this page where you can see some variety -- the Wharcom with its wharnecliff point for precision cutting, and the tan Subcom which has a combo edge -- part serrated for rope or plastic banding.

I don't think you're looking for the fixed blade, but part of the reason for its higher price is the excellent 440C steel. You could keep it in mind for later. :p

How about a Mouse II Lite from BladeTech? I believe is a 2 inch long blade.

My Wife has a Kershaw Chive and a Spyderco Cricket. She isn't too crazy about the blade shape of the Cricket be she does like the Chive a lot.

My EDC is an older small William Henry Kestrel that has approximately a 2 inch blade.

Of course it is a lot more than $60.

Yes, a Wegner mouse with S30V blade with G10 handles might be had for a bit more than $60.00 but worth it! I have both G10 and carbon fiber handles and love it. Actually, I also have one with titanium handles STR did for me, even better!

Well thought I would drag up my old thread as it has come full circle. Handled the Subcom folder a few times but it always seemed to be biting into my hand too much. I know it is to aid in hanging on to it, but the handle was just too rough. I have come to like the Spyder-hole so anything with a post was out. So...I got the Lava.

What a little sweetie. :p

I think this one will be with me for a long time.

Congragulations on your new Lava! Iv'e heard and seen that the grip is even better than a Subcom!.
