I am making my first 2 blade slipjoint. I am using an old Buck Stockman 3 blade as my example, I am setting it up with a clip and sheepfoot blade, the blades are pivoting at opposite ends utilizing 2 separate springs. Every 3 blade slipjoint that I have uses a spacer between the springs presumably because with a 3 blade knife, there are 2 blades on one end and I think that the spacer is there to separate those blades. My question is, can I eliminate the spacer? Am I going to have a problem with the springs touching each other?

You need the spacer. You can cut put the center part just like a stockman.

The 2018 Traditional Forum Knife is a 2 blade made by Buck, based on their stockman, exactly like you want to do. It's a 2 spring, no liner/spacer between the springs.

There's some pics in these threads:

There's also the 2015 Traditional Forum Knife (as another example), made by Canal Street. It's a 2 blade serpentine pattern, clip & sheepsfoot, but uses a single spring.

That 2018 knife is just about where I was going. My clip blade is quite a bit thinner in relationship to it's length. I see that the center pin on this knife is concealed. I like that look but I'm not sure how I would go about peening the exposed pins. They would have to be peened after the knife is assembled. I thought about making this knife with one spring but decided on 2 springs because it is pretty much like making 2 knives and pitting them together. Two blades on one spring are a project that i will thke on later when i have had more time to think about it. Also, I have been a member here since 2004 and I had no idea that there was an annual BF knife purchase. I need to look around the forums more.

I think two blades on one spring pivoting on opposite ends is easier than two blades on two springs pivoting on opposite ends. I have never successfully pulled off what you are doing. If you manage it, make a thread i will be interested.
