I'm looking for a 2'' diameter contact wheel to sub in for one of the idlers on my flat platen attachment. Does anyone have any experience or thoughts on these wheels? I'll put them in the order I was thinking about purchasing...

Reeder (2'' - 70 Duro):

AmeriBrade (2'' - 65A Duro):

I have the Beaumont on the top wheel of my platen. I just recently bought a 2” from Aliexpress and can’t really tell the difference - it was significantly cheaper of course so if you can deal with the wait, I would go that route.

I bought an Ameribrade 2" a couple years ago. It works great and is far superior to the Beaumont 2" it replaced.

You could try to do it yourself.

Rubber from Amazon, weatherstrip cement from your local auto parts store. Cut the rubber oversize and at a diagonal. First glue and clamp one end of the rubber, let dry, then stretch and glue the rubber around the wheel. Don't cut or glue the final joint edge until the other glue has bonded. You can flatten or shape a crown on the belt sander.

I have an AmeriBrade 2", and 6" rubber wheels on their combo platen. I had them switch out the aluminum 2" wheel for their rubber 2" wheel on the combo platen when I ordered the grinder. Works great so far, only used it a few times so far though. Garage isn't heated :(
