I was looking on TNK's site and I see Neil is now offering the Tanto Umnumzaan with 2 different style Tanto Tips. One is the standard tip which is more blunt, while the other is called a "Dynamic" Tip that is more of a sharper tip with a deeper taper into the blade.
What do you guys think of the pro's and con's of each style. I know several of you guys have the Standard Style, but what do you guys think of the new Dynamic Style ???

That's pretty cool. I don't have a tanto but looking at the photos above I like the tapered look of the dynamic tip. It should also penetrate better.

I noticed with my Tanto (older style) that the blade was about 3mm shorter than the blade on my Proto Umn.

This new blade looks like it would be equal to the blade length of the regular one.

I do not know what advantages this new blade would have over the old one but hey the more steel the better i say :D

I like it the new tip a lot. It's getting closer and closer to a spanto!

After a couple swips on the sharpmaker, you could almost make a spanto out of it and after looking at it more closely, you can see the spanto potential in it !!!

I like the dynamic tip more, I'm not a huge tanto fan but the tanto Umnumzaan seems
to be a knife I keep looking at. That new tip might be enough to send me over the edge. :p

Both look great to me. Since it's less tapered, I think the standard tip will be a little tougher. It might be my eyes, but I think the dynamic tanto tip has more belly. Should slice great if you happen to be using that portion of the blade. I'm not sure which one I prefer .

I too think the standard tanto tip would be tougher because of the shorter bevel. The Dynamic does appear to have more belly than the standard but that could just be the angle perhaps. Leave it to Chris to make us drewl over similar models with subtle changes........lol

is the tanto part of the blade sharp it says on true north knives top swedge not sharp it that the top of the blade or the tanto part of the blade thanks for the help

I like the dynamic tip. It reminds me of the Bob Lum style. I think called an appleseed grind or hamaguri or something like that :D

The business end of the tanto blade is sharp, and has a zero-edge. The top of the blade, unlike that of the standard Umnumzaan blade, specifically referring to the front inch or so, is neither sharp nor sharpened. It is flat.

Good eye. I just opened the picture in photoshop and then overlayed the two blades. The dynamic does indeed have a bit more belly.

This is the Tanto Umn (Not LE) and the new Tanto Sebbie

Looks like the angle on the sebbie is greater than the Umn

I really like the looks of that "Americanized Tanto"! My Umnumzaan is my most carried knife and I just love it.

Looks like I know what I'm getting for father's day :)

great pics, I will definitely get a small tanto umnumzaan when it comes out.
the tanto seb looks awesome too

I'm currently sporting a TNK tanto Seb and had to sell my tanto Umnumzaan to get it. Now that I see the Dynamic, I want an Umnum again:o

Now I guess it is time to sell some more knives! My regular Umnumzaan is my favorite knife. Love my large and small Sebenza Classics but the Umnumzaan just seems to feel better! The new tanto LE is going to make me crack!!!
