2 features I would like to see on more knives.

Hello everyone.
There are two features which I have noticed that greatly appeal to me. These may not be appropriate for all knives, but I feel many knives would be better with them. Let me know what you guys think, and maybe throw in some of your own ideas.

1) BALL BEARINGS!!! they make the motion very smooth and keep the blade from getting scratched up from opening and closing.

2) I'm not exactly sure how to describe thisw, but I'll my best: I would like to see knives that are still smooth but require more resistance to begin opening it. A few knives that I own you have to put some force into getting past the first hump to open the knife (I think the Axis Locks are like this). The reason I would like to see this is because once you get past that point, you've exhausted enough force for the blade to lock into place much more quickly than if the blade were completely loose. I feel that tactical folders could especially benefit from this feature because it insures that I will apply enough force for the blade to lock into place.

I believe Ti-Knives uses some kind of bearing set up think it might be ceramic not sure. Your second request sounds like the ball dent which pretty much all new type lock backs allready have.

The one thing I would like to see on ALL knives is a lanyard hole or attachment of some kind. It's there if you need it, and not in the way if you don't.

Pergatory, I know what you mean. I do not like a folder that almost falls open when turned upside down. I collect MT's and that could be a problem with the bearing system they have, because it don't take much effort to open these. What holds them in is a perfectly matched ball detent. I have seen knives where the ball an detent did not match up and didn't work. One thing I have found out is this; you have a well matched liner lock when anywhere around 1/2 inch from closing it feels like the blade gets sucked closed. All of my manual Microtechs have this feature as well as the Al-Mar SERE 2000's I have. Also agree with you on the axis lock. I just picked up a 940 and tightened the blade first thing. Even tight the blade still opens smoothly and has that hesitation at the front that once overcome allows the blade to lock up solidly.
