Yes gender bias because of the color. Actually the kershaw color looks a nice contrast on the aluminum. buy your wife a knife! just dont double cross her...

I'm excited that companies are trying to make products that appeal to EVERYONE. Women (and men alike) need to view knives as tools not people skinners

I don't get where this "Women only like pink knives" stuff comes from.

What? Women only appreciate a knife if its "pretty"?

Woman: That knife's pretty.
Man: I dulled the blade so you don't have to worry your pretty little head about cutting yourself.
Woman: Thank you. It's shiny too!

My wife has half a dozen or so quality knives (Spyderco, Northwoods, etc). If I gave her a pink knife, she'd take it to mean I thought she didn't know anything about knives.

Then she'd cut me. :D

Not everyone is as enlightened as your wife... I think this just helps add more mass appeal to models

ive always found these situations funny cuz my girl knows more about knives then i do, which isnt saying much but still lol

Some women like pink.
Some women like knives.
Some women like both.
It's like the choice of a black knife or a knife in your favorite color.

I'd love to see some numbers on that. :)

I bet the number of women who like both is much, much smaller than many would think.

Somebody whip up one of them Venn diagrams!

OK, here are the "facts" :D

9% of women like pink
http://www.wired.com/gadgets/miscellaneous/news/2007/09/ladygeek

9% of women own a knife
http://www.kniferights.org/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=80&Itemid=29

So, statistically, without taking any other factors into consideration, 0.81% of women like pink knives, or 1 out of every 123 women.

:)

Like Mark Twain said..."There are liars, damn liars, and statisticians" :D

I would guess those "other factors" are probably significant, and there's less of a correlation between women who like pink/women who like knives than, say, women who like guns/women who like knives.

Thats my theory.

they make pink guns and bows and camo :P

My wife and I are on the same page in many areas, actually seeing eye-to-eye regularly, as we are both 5'10". In knives, she likes small - and fast to deploy, like her longtime favorite Kershaw Rainbow Chive. She knew I had a BM 610 & 615 in the Rukus family, so she thought I would like a 6150 automatic Rukus for last Christmas - it scared Stainz! Early this year, she discovered the 2" BM 3150 Impel - automatic - and 'had' to have it. Within months, she wanted another 'color' - not a trade - another knife - a 3150BK - black on black. When I showed her the pink Leek, she thought it was for Breast Cancer Awareness - and wanted to buy it - for a friend - at work. She has repeatedly insisted that her CCW, a Seecamp .32, and pocket knives were to be silver or black - pink was for her hair bows, etc. She is moving her stuffed animals around right now... the real cats like to play with them, too. She is quite feminine. She must be in the majority - the 99.19% who don't like pink knives!

Stainz

PS She was almost in tears recently at a local B&M store when shown a Microtech knife she wanted - in light pink or baby blue only - they were out of black - we are still waiting on that one.

That's what I'm talking about! I think the women who like knives do so because they are good knives....not because they "pretty" or "girly" knives. Give 'em some credit! That doesn't mean they are less feminine...it just means they know knives! :D

Since we're talking about pink knives I have a question. Benchmade donates part of the profits from the pink Grips to breast cancer research. Do Spyderco, Kershaw or ESEE do the same thing?
