Hey guys, once again I find myself needing some advice from this awesome community. Let me just say that I turkey appreciate it all! There's such an awesome collective of knowledge here!
So I find myself having to relocate to an area where knife laws are vague at best, where the definition of a weapon is left to a jury and an arrest can be made at the officers discretion. I'm leaning towards leaving my collection at home and purchasing a 2 handed opening knife. I'm stepping into a new world with this though. I'd like at least 3 inches, purposeful, easy on the eyes and high quality. My budget is about $200. Oh and something that really can't be constrewed as a weapon and also has a locking blade! Thanks!

By 3" do you mean at least 3" blade? Do you have any requirements for steel?

If you want the most non-weapon-looking knives, you need a traditional design. If you like 1095 carbon steel, Great Eastern makes some great lockbacks (72 and 42 patterns) that would fit the bill, and they come in a number of crowd-pleasing handle materials - bone, stag, wood.

If you want stainless in a tradition lockback, the Moki Kronos (regular has a 3.2" blade, small is smaller, of course) is a good option. Moki knives have outstanding fit and finish.

I have never handled one, but I hear Al Mar lockbacks are high quality, too.

Of course, an Opinel #8 would work for that purpose, too.
