Hi looking to get for wife a 2 inch slicer folding knife for food prep.Thinking about spyderco ladybug salt series any other sugestions.Thanks.

The Dragonfly 2 Salt would probably be better, although its blade is a little over 2". I have the SE version, which works great for many things, but you might want a PE version, depending on what types of foods you'll be cutting.

Two inches is pretty small for food prep. How about the AG Russell Folding Hocho at 4.5"
or maybe a Spyderco Breeden Rescue at just under 3". I think it would make a neat folding food prep knife.
or perhaps a Jester

Definitely the spyderco dragonfly. I personally carry a serrated edge dfly salt as a secondary sheeple friendly knife and it's a great little knife. My only suggestion would be to go with the standard vg10 version for food prep since it is a full flat grind and will slice better than the saber ground salt version. Vg10 is a very popular stainless steel in high end kitchen cutlery as it holds a very fine edge quite well and is also very corrosion resistant.

Real food prep, or just to cut up some salami and cheese on occasion?

2" blades aren't that useful as food prep knives unless you want to do a lot of garnishing work.

How about something in the 3-4" length? A SAK one hand opener, or a traditional fruit knife, or doctor's knife will have long & slender blades that should work.

Well its more fruit cutting,apples,oranges

Then you definitely want more than a 2" blade. To be honest I wouldn't even recommend anything under 3" for fruit. The spyderco delica ffg would be pretty good, but again just a bit too short. The sad truth to it is that most modern folders have far too thick of blades to be very effective at slicing fruits and vegetables. You're MUCH better off with a nice 3.5" dedicated pairing knife. If you absolutely must get a folder, a SAK or opinel is going to be your best bet as a makeshift pairing knife. You're definitely going to want to go with a 3-3.5" blade made of very thin stock.

For fruit...how about a classic Laguiole style knife? Beautiful lines and function. I bet she would LOVE it. Just be careful about D.C. knife restrictions.

How about a Mercator "Black Cat"? 3 1/2" slim blade in stainless would work well for slicing fruit.

I'm going to mimic the Spyderco Dragonfly. But... If you would go longer than 2"... get a Spyderco Stretch.

I use my Dragonfly 2 Salt to cut fruit (and sometimes vegetables) a lot, like slicing up apples, oranges, carrots, broccoli, cauliflower, etc. Of course, it would not work on something like watermelon, etc., and is not ideal for, say, potatoes, although I've used it for that to see how it would work. For me, slicing up apples, even big apples, with it is very easy. It has a very high hollow grind, and the edge is quite thin.

I agree with other that 2" is a bit short for a paring knife.

The Al Mar Ultralights (PE) would make great paring knives. Blades are thin and have a good cutting geometry. I have a Falcon and Hawk, both are a pleasure to use in the kitchen and as an EDC.

you might want to take a look at some traditional patterns. long thin blades perfect for slicing performance, great looks and very sheeple friendly
