Here we go, this is the folder I bought at the board walk art show. I would first like to speak about the name of the makers. It is called "2 Jakes" because the makers are Jake (the dad) and jacob (the son). The son was not at the art show, but I did get to meet the dad (Jake) and his wife..,(who is a custom jewelry maker, a custom jewelry maker I might add.. called Wired Muse, for those who need a gift for the girlfriend/wife). Anyway, I just have to day they are extremely nice, I know I talked to them for atleast 30min. They answered any questions and were extremely knowledgeable. 2 Jakes mainly specializes in fixed blades and damascus. I did get a folder which was just as nice as the fixed blades, but he only brought 3 folders for the art show, as they are a lot of work to make (I bought the last one). I would suggest 2 Jakes Custom Knives to anyone. Now onto the knife specifics.

As always I am going to start out with the aesthetic. This knife is gorgeous. It has their signature green bone handles with stainless steel bolsters. Although first I am going to talk about the handle. The green bone compliments the knife extremely well. Along the edges it is a great bright green while in the center it is almost black. While not only looking awesome it is very grippy, not annoyingly grippy, but some of the best handle material I have ever had the pleasure of using. Then moving on to the bolsters. I am going to say right now, I am not a fan of bolsters, some times I find they add a two tone that should not be their, or just looks out of place. Well not in this case, this bolster looks amazing, the polished silver looks great coming off the green bone, and their are some amazing grind lines, that surround the screws. This is by far my favorite bolster on any folding knife.

Then one will notice the nice linear lock, and siding. Their is like a crowned jimping going along the entire knife (for lack of a better phrase). It is just amazing. It gives a nice texture and is for sure aesthetically pleasing.

Now moving on to the blade. The blade is a polished stainless steel, I dont remember what type it is right now. The blade is extremely sharp and and has a great grind. The real show stopper is the amazing spine of the blade. Their is a great decorative spine on this blade. It gives it a artistic and a fierce look. This blade is for sure functional without a doubt.

Now what you all really care about, performance.

Well I would like to start off by saying, unlike in my balisong reviews, by flipping a balisong I can speak to its performance, well with a folder it is more about the cutting ability... (I do speak to a balisongs cutting ability aswell) anyway. While if one looks at this knife it will immediately be considered a gentleman's folder, and I would for the most part agree with you.

Although before I bought the knife, the maker (Jake) flicked the knife out, I know you can do that with any folding knife but that is what this knife seemed to be made for. Of course you can open it slow, but after opening it slow and flicking the knife, this made is for sure made to be flicked open. Also the speed. I remember when I owned the Bradley Alias 2. Its claim to fame (other then being considered as close to a sebenza as any folding knife will ever get), is that is was just as fast if not faster then a spring assisted or even some autos. Well this folder in much faster then the alias 2, or atleast I think it is. I actually like this knife more then just about any folding knife I have ever owned or used.

So while you can easily dress this knife up it is meant to be used. That being said I still have not really cut anything with it. It did shred through the paper test. Also this knife opens really smoothly.

I am really impressed by this knife. It is really well centered, it is difficult to have a knife totally centered sometimes and this knife does a great job of that, although it might favor one side slightly.

I am not sure if their is anything I would change, other then maybe later I will make a custom order and get a damascus blade, as that is a specialty of 2 Jakes Custom Knives.

Overall.

Overall I really like this knife, I am much more of a balisong person, so for me to be this impressed with a folding knife is not un heard of, but is certainly not common. I mean this knife is amazing looking, and is extremely well made. They are backed logged right now, but I would still contact them, they do have a website. Again the makers are awesome, and so are their knives. They do make frame locks as well so you know. Everything about the folding knife I got looks great, it goes really well with all my other knives in the case. I am reallt glad I stumbled upon a great knife maker at a art show. This proves knives are art.

I hope you enjoyed the review, and here are some pictures.

That is very nice! I like how the green kind of glows from beneath the black.
