2 Kukri for identification

I'd like to know exactly what I have here. I recently picked up these two kukri knives at an estate sale. They were said to have both been brought back from a trip to India and Nepal in the 1960s or '70s, although one appears to be newer than the other.

The "newer" one:
Overall length: 17"
Blade length: 11.5"
Thickness: 5mm all the way
Weight: 22.6 oz (642 gm)
Notes: No markings.

The "older" one:
Overall length: 16.5"
Blade length: 11.5"
Thickness: 6mm tapering to 4.5mm
Weight: 22.2 oz (632 gm)
Notes: Has "India" on the blade. Missing butt plate/pommel. Hollow ground, though not very evenly. I wire-brushed a lot of rust off the blade.

Despite the closeness in size & length, the “older” one feels much faster in the hand, compared to the “newer” one which in comparison feels somewhat tip heavy.

Any info and/or opinion appreciated. Thanks

All I really know about khukris is that the authentic Gurkha ones have a hidden tang.
I have recently re-handled an original Kukri for a friend of mine. He owns a climbing gear store and he has friends who go often on expeditions. They brought him the knife from Nepal themselves, so it should be legit. It is marked NEPAL in the spine AND it has a FLIMSY hidden tang.

He destroyed the handle and I offered to put a new one on it. It now doesn't look AT ALL like the original one, but he will not be breaking this one (home made micarta slabs attached with two 2mm stainless pins AND a boatload of epoxy, contoured, of course!)
