Wanted to do a chisel and zero grind for a qhile now, so i slapped together some stainless (V2A) and carbon steel (1.2842 = 0-2).

Despite the fact that it warps and bends constantly during grinding, everything worked out just fine.

Ground it almost to zero and then finished it on japanese waterstones. Took a while but the edge is scary sharp. I can easily shave armhair with any of my knives but this is the first knife I made I could actually shave my face with (with almost no blood loss too ;) ).

Though I'm thinking of putting on a secondary bevel as it's intended for everyday use. And that zero edge just seems a tad to fragile for this.

Sheath can be carried around the neck but also just put in your pocket as it is. The knife is held rocksolid in there.

Overall lenght: 11,8 cm
Blade: 5,8 cm, 4 mm 1.2842 + V2A

No idea where those tiny pores in the carbon came from. They just appeared when I was finish grinding the blade.

Looking forward to your comments.

Snazzy! Can you tell us about the groove in the blade please? Why it's there? Its purpose and function? How did you make it?

With two different metals in the blade, I wonder if you'll get noticeable warping as the temperature changes.

Way cool! I like that thing! I would carry that thing everyday. The fuller is a nice touch to spruce up a simple knife. Only thing I would add would be a lanyard hole in the handle.

your good work is really getting my interest lately, keep it up!

Glad you like it guys.

The groove is there to make it easier when resharpening on waterstones. Since you have to grind the whole side, for a zero edge, there's less material to remove. Plus it look's kinda cool ;).

Was thinking of a lanyard hole as well, but in the form of a curve along the butt end. HAve to give it a go on my pantograph. Hopefully the stell didn't harden all the way trough to the back.
