Very nice looking overlays redrummd!! But now everybody is gonna want me to add dinosaur bone to my Mini Mojo giveaway knife!!!:grumpy: Not good, dude. Not good.

;)

Jonnymac-

They are inserts not overlays as I take the G-10 and remove it first...... So, it is really tough to get a very tight fit when hand cutting stone to fit the little hole! I also now know that the holes are not exactly the same size on each knife now so I hand fit each piece to the actual knife it will go into.......

By private message - share a bit more about the Kershaw give away you are doing as I may be willing to spend a few hours cutting and fitting one for a good cause.....

Great and very novel idea! Well done. I like the second one (brown).

Did you use 'genuine' dinosaur bone?

If so, is that expensive\cheap and do you know what animal it comes from?

Just curious...

It is really fossil dinosaur bone and 250 MILLION years in the making. The bone was buried in mud in ancient streams, lakes and volcanic events. Over the eons the calcium has been replaced by other minerals, mostly calacite and agate. The colors are caused by minerals nearthe bone with the reds being caused by iron as an example.

The red bone piece is agate and the brown one initially had some replacement in calacite that was then agatized with some cells being fully agatized. Agate is harder and takes a better polish than the calacite so it is the better material. In the case of the brown one it isthe best of both minerals as the calacite added colors and some refraction not normally seen in agate only replacement.......

The brown Kershaw Mini Mojo sold tonight for $162.50 and is now the highest dollar knife I have sold. The Kershaw sold for more than several I did in good Damascus!

I may need to make a few more of these now......

Congrats on the sale. I looked at your listing, and wondered what the final bid would be. Nice haul!
