I'll bring some of my good cord for the good knives. If anyone wants to learn bring some heavy shoelace, like tennis shoe (flat and thickerer) 42"-44" or so. Some Bondini , Wallmart and Target sell it. They have a gel (black lid) and Bondini II with a red lid. Get both. The gel takes longer to set (about 10-15 seconds). Its easier to learn with this one. Once you get the hang of it the red lid stuff will cut the wrap time in half. Bring some steel to practic your wrap on. A 3/8" hole centered 1/2" from the but end works well.

Looking forward to it. My wife Deb has show an interest in learning this, that would be cool. "Here honey, finish up the cord wrap and make me a sheath, I'm going to go forge some more blades." Ahh wouldn't that be sweet.

Larry, I've got my shoelaces, but what the heck is Bondini? Never heard of it. I'm assuming some kind of glue......could you describe it a bit more so I know what to look for?

Mark: That sounds great. I'm trying to get Laura interested in sheath making, book keeping, taxes, government forms, managing reciepts, booking shows, etc..... so far no luck. Thats not so say no progress. Tonight I'm meeting with a contractor who is going to enlarge my shop and fix the roof so it doesn't rain on my grinder. :D
By the way, could you refresh me on where this hammer in is going to be again?
Thanks,
Ed

I'm leaving this coming Friday. I can hardly wait. I should be rested and ready by the hammer-in. I'll have the place scoped out and set up for us for Saturday. If anyone wants to come on early please feel free. I'll be there :)

I picked up a couple of helium tanks today. They make as good forges as freon. If anyone wants one that is coming, let me know and I'll bring them.

I also still have some of the fireman's air tanks. These can't be used as forges because they are aluminum but make great quench tanks and are also the best portable air tanks I've ever had. I can bring a couple of these also if anyone needs them.

Couple more days and we are off to the hammer in. Guess I have to start getting ready. Got a couple knives for the cutting contest. Gather up some hammers, steel and bucket some coal. Grinder and buffer are portable.
Some cord and stuff for cord wraps. I'll be ready. Leaving after work saturday morning, be there early afternoon.
Lets make some knives!!
