My first attempts at the mule team/any other knife. My dads bday gift and mine. I need more practice. They came out rough. In some places.

nice! i have a first with the mule team too - it pushed me over the edge and bought kydex sheath making stuff. if it weren't for it, i'd probably still be looking for a reason to get started or never even get to it.

Thanks for the heads up jv3 on these. Knifephan as much of the handle I grinded away I wouldn't call the one on top a mule team anymore. It was fun and learned to not quit my day job. Can't wait for the next release.

Deadeye956,

There is nothing wrong with drilling out the pins, prying off the scales and doing it over. One method for making knife scales is to dry fit and shape to form by hand. When you are satisfied with the shape and fit, fix it with pins and epoxy.

thanks dave. i didnt pin right away. i got close to being finished then pinned them. i defiantly need to use more hands less power tools. i used a 1/30 sander and drum sander on my drill press. use more epoxy for sure next time. i took a second look at my dads and it is all right. the knife makers here don't have to worry about me adding to the competition though. the canvas one needs more sanding. the scales are no where near symmetrical, but feel great in the hand. its my ugly duckling that is growing on me. just a little more sanding.
