I purchased these 2 khukuris from a British ebayer before I discovered Himalayan Imports. I like the feel of them, but I really don't know anything about them.
The wood handled one was sold as a mid-1800's khukuri. The fancier one was sold as a post-WW2 khukuri. They're both pretty solid and take a razor edge.
The fancy one has a wood handle with the metal decorations; the rest is horn. 3/8" thick blade. Neither has a lion's head buttcap. The older one is 1/4" thick and has 17681 stamped on the blade.

Here are the photos:

I especially like the wood handled one.
What's the overall length?

The wooden handled one is a little over 17" and the other is a little over 16".
The sheath is for the decorated one.

The wooden handled knife is considerably older. Pre-WWI, 1850-1900 is a good bet. A very elegant piece.

The other khukuri looks much more recent. Probably from this side of the 1960s. The decorations aside it looks like the standard currently made military style khukuri. The sheath looks to have some real wear, and it looks traditional, so ball park 20-40 years old.

I do love the old ones. 150 years old and still capable of doing the job. Why can't I be more like khukuris?

;) what about the newer one? tourist?
It feels decent, isn't plated, takes a good edge, but it doesn't look like one meant for combat. What do you think, John?

This is a great 'traditional' kukri probably from central Nepal and made between 1870-1920. While it isn't from an armoury, it is typical of what would be used day in day out and meant for everything.

The numbers seem a bit high for the 50 year spread I'm estimating, but is an example of a man bringing his own knife to a British or Nepalese regiment. It is a beautiful kukri

Yeah, the old one has a great feel. I'm not letting that one go!
It reminds me of the Malla khukuri the kamis make. I ought to pick one of those up. I think that's the least talked about khuk on the forums here.

Great find! The wood handled one especially just says "use me". Khukuris do have an amazing mystique.
