2 Problems: Advice needed (Community Forum version)

These 2 things are slowly getting bigger

I've got ant an ant problem which wasn't so much of a problem until they decided to try to take over my house. Just woundering what products helped you remove the ants without using spray products because I have a cat.

Depends on what kind of ants they are and where you are finding them. For instance, what some folks call "Sugar Ants" are the really small ones you might see in your kitchen . They are relatively harmless, though annoying and you will want to find something that's not very toxic (kitchent/food thing you know). Maybe one of those bug killers that use orange citric acid.

Now, if they are something like the big black carpenter ants, use one of the readily available powders from your local hardware store. Sprinkle it along their trail, they follow their trails. Generally, a trail of these guys indicate they are setting up a new nest somewhere else. Anyhow, they will wind up taking the powder grains back (either because they stick to them or they actually carry them back) to the nest and it will kill them in a couple of days.


As for your friend. You said your peace, now it's up to him ..... let it go. If he doesn't want to be around you guys or is mad at you because of what an old girlfriend said, that's on him. Time for you guys to move on as well. Maybe some day you'll all get back on track.
 
1. Boric acid (cheap powder and can be put into places that the cat won't get into).

2. You can't always help foolish friends. At times I have had to say my peace and tell them to call me when/if they got their head out of their a$$. You can't help those who don't want your help. Don't get pulled into the soap opera, will only give more blame to you when the stuff hit the fan.
 
I can't help laughing ... those are such totally different problems, and you try to jam them both into the same thread??? :confused:

Start a new thread in Gadgets & Gear about the ant problem. I think the borax idea is good but there are other options; you might want to set out some ant traps too -- we can talk about that in Gadgets & Gear, in a new thread where we won't be distracted by your lovestruck buddy.

Arguing with your lovestruck friend is not going to help. Love and reasoning don't go together.... You might be able to help him with counseling or just listening and being supportive but not by reasoning with him.
 
I've never had ant problems so can't answer that question.

For the second question, since he's willing to spend money on the girl that dumped him try and bring him to a professional. I saw on TV a couple of days ago that showed the legal brothels in Nevada. They sure had some hot women there. Better than dating your right hand.

I am going to give you the cheapest advice in the world. Call an exterminator. They aren't that expensive and you will see results after the first visit. For the most part they don't use sprays they use bait, (not those stupid little cans from the hardware store) This bait is like crack to bugs. It's like a thick gel, it comes in a syringe and they squirt small amounts into cracks and crevices in areas where bugs have been seen.

You can lead a horse to water but you can't make him understand that she don't love him no more!

He has to figure it out for himself. There is nothing you can do.
 
We occationally have colonies of ants settle in the sidewalks around the house. Eventually they make their way inside, making ant-trails accross the kitchen floor. A bit of Ortho powder on the colonies and around the outside of the door always gets 'em.

I think you fixed it as much as any human effort can fix it....

Reminds me of the time one of O'Leary's cows got hit by the train and the cowcatcher tore her right in half and flung the halves in different directions and O'Leary tried to fix her with duct tape. :D
