Hey Team CRK:

My heart is set on getting the Umnumzaan Tanto, but I have two questions that I'm hoping all of you can answer.

1) Does anyone know or heard about the CRK Umnumzaan Tanto BLK blade losings its black color or scratching easily?

2) I want to get a Large Burgundy CRK Lanyard with Silver Hardware, but I believe these are made for the Large Sebenza 21. Will it fit on in the Umnunzaan's handle? Or should I get the small lanyard (made for the Small Sebenza 21)?

I appreciate your help! And I can't wait 'til I get my very own CRK Umnumzaan! Thanks, Team CRK!

Best,

JJHC

I Don't believe that CRK has ever coated the blade on an Umnunmzaan. The BLK I think refers to the black lanyard. The item description for the blade is "s35vn stonewashed". The stonewashed finish is very durable though. It takes lots and lots of hard use to get any noticeable scratches on the finish. As far as your second question, I'm not sure myself. I think that they are interchangeable but I'll let someone who knows chime in.

The Umnumzaan will take a large 21 lanyard pin. The small 21 lanyard pin is too small.

That makes so much more sense, so thank you for the clarification. But just to be sure, the pictures on True North Knives makes the blade look like it has different shades. Is there a difference in blade color when seeing this one and this one in person? Yet, both descriptions state that it is a "stonewash finish."

The bottom blade looks darker to me, but is it the same "stonewash finish"?

Just the angle the blade is at in the photograph. They are all stonewashed blades.

Thing with taking pictures of knives is that blades & silver hardware reflect whatever is on the other side...also the blade grinds on the 21 & Zaan are different than most blades out there, making the reflecting even more interesting....
