2---What r minnesota laws concerning carying fixed blade knives? Size, type, etc.

Ok I lied theres a third

3--- Has anyone ever heard of a law concerning the number of knives an idividual carries. I was searched and had 7 different knives on me and the leo telling me it was illegal. This happened near Austin TX. All knives where legal and not even questionable.

Unless there was a local ordinance limiting the number of knives an individual could carry, the leo was trying to bluff you.

As far as carrying a fixed blade in a bar in Texas, it may be illegal. The place to look is in the statutes and regulations governing businesses that are licensed to serve alcohol.

It is illegal to carry WEAPONS where alcohol is served, in Texas. If a knife is otherwise legal, it can be carried inside a bar. In other words, single-edged, no more than 5.5" blade length, not a switchblade, gravity knife, dirk, dagger, Bowie knife, and BTW balisongs are illegal because they open by centrifugal force, which is also illegal. The number of knives does not matter. This is state law, and city ordinances could possibly be more strict. Concealed or open carry makes no difference, but if you cause a disturbance or breach of the peace with the knife, there is a problem, so if the knife is anything other than a very conventional, small knife, better to keep it concealed. Remember a bar is private property, and can therefore refuse admittance or service to anyone. So, they can refuse to let you inside if you have a knife they don't like. I started to go into a bar recently, and they had metal detectors at the door, so I took my business elsewhere rather than let them hold hold my knives for me.

Fixed or folder makes no legal difference under state law in Texas. It is a common myth that fixed blades are illegal, and in most states FB knives are illegal to carry concealed and often illegal period. Texas has a very transient population, and people bring their culture and beliefs with them to Texas. But what was true back "home" may not be true in the new home.
