2 Sak combo EDC

Anyone here EDC's two SAKs attached to each other? I was thinking I'd make an EDC combo of a Victorinox Waiter and a Victorinox Classic SD. Or maybe a Victorinox Waiter and a Victorinox Signature Lite. The first one would give the following: large blade, combo tool, corkscrew, small blade, scissors, small screwdriver with nailfile, 2 tweezers and 2 toothpicks. It could also carry a pin and the eyeglass screwdriver. The second combo would replace the redundant tweezers with a pen and a LED light.

I know it sounds very close to what a Victorinox Compact can give (specially the first combo configuration) but I was wondering if combining 2 smaller SAKs (1-layer 84mm and a 58mm) would have some advantages over a 2-layer 91mm knife.

Offhand, the things that interest me about combining 2 SAKs are the following:
1) smaller scissors - most of the stuff I cut with scissors are the more delicate stuff that can be taken care of by the 58mm scissors
2) more interesting setup - not just the normal single knife EDC... the 2 SAK combo connected by the keyrings is a bit more unusual and yet it will maintain the lightness and the pocketable size of the single longer knife.
3) colors - trivial probably, but having different colored Classics allow for color changes when desired. today red and blue... tomorrow red and yellow... or even red and stayglow! :D
4) different tools offered - other than the double tweezers and toothpick, there isn't much repetition with the tools the two knives offer.

Also I've seen a youtube video of a guy doing this combo with a Vic Classic but attached to a tiny Spyderco instead... so I wondered, why not another Vic? A Vic Waiter? It will give me a combo tool and the corkscrew in addition to the larger blade.

Or... should I just get a Compact and be done with it? :|

Anyone who has any opinion on the matter, or any thoughts... do chime in. :)

Thank you!

i usually carry a Sportsman and a small 2nd. either Midnight Manager on my keyring or Rambler on a dog tag chain.

Personally, I don't see the point of having them attached to one another, as I prefer having a Classic or Midnight Manager or Signature Lite or Rambler on my keychain. But if you do, might I suggest the little bitty caribiner S-clips. I bought some at Target (it was a keychain set of six small ones on a larger keychain type tool). This seems a good solution as you could keep them attached in your pocket, but easily remove either knife for actual use.

I like to carry my Farmer with a Ambassador , great combo for me. Not attached tho , I think that would drive me crazy. I keep them in separate pockets.

If they are attached to one another, if you lose one you lose both. I carry two, not always the same two, but always in separate pockets

Before I got up the traditional area I EDCed a Vic Executive or an Alox Classic with a Vic Compact or a Vic Farmer. It changed day by day....

Kind regards

I don't attach SAKs to eachother, but there's always a Midnight Manager on the keyring and another SAK in my pocket.

SAK numchuks? Practical-tactical indeed! :D

Kidding aside, I frequently carry two SAKs but not attached to each other. Vic Rambler on my keys and a Tinker in my LFP.

i finally stopped looking for the perfect sak. by carrying both the soldier and signature i get the alox benefits and still have scissors, pen, and tweezers from the signature. i also have the small beater blade (signature) and can lend it out without worrying what happens to it. lastly, if the sig gets broken/lost/stolen etc. another can be bought for little cash. i don't carry my saks attached to each other because if i lost one i would lose both. i also can't attach anything to my soldier (no keyring). i always have a 2-3 foot length of 550 cord attached to my signature just in case.

Climber plus in my belt pouch (for the fine work), Cadet on keychain (always ready for action).

Classic is too small for me.

I recently bought a Vic. Trail Guide with the intention of carrying it paired up with my Farmer. So far it is still untouched and nib but I think that I will give the pair a try real soon. They will not be attached to each other.

Hi fellas i am a new member so please excuse me for resurrecting the old posts. Trying to see what are the SAKs that are missing the tools already available on Manager/midnight Manager which I am using as base - small and light enough for a keychain. Here are some combos IMHO:

COMBO 1: Manager + Farmer: Saw is a good tool to have. You end up getting magnetic phillips, tweezer, scissor, nail file/screw driver and ball pen with Manager that are missing on Farmer. You get can opener/small screwdriver, bottle opener/large screwdriver, reamer, woodsaw that are obviously missing on Manager. There is very minimal overlap.

COMBO 2: Midnight Manager + Hiker. Hiker also has a saw like farmer but it will also have a tweezer, toothpick, an extra small blade, phillips screwdriver. Since you get both tweezers and toothpick in hiker, you get Midnight manager where you loose tweezer but get the light.

COMBO 3: Midnight Manager + Mechanic. In comparison to Hiker you'd loose wood saw but gain Pliers with Mechanic.

COMBO 4: Midnight Manager + Spartan: In comparison to Hiker or Mechanic you don't get woodsaw or Pliers but get a cork screw.

COMBO 5: Midnight Manager + Super Tinker: Well this one has some overlaps i.e. Scissors and Phillips screwdriver but both these tools are probably a bit larger size on the super tinker.

What do you think?

This combo covers 99% of what I need in an urban environment. The combo tool on the bantam does a heck of a lot.

EDC = ALOX Pioneer/Farmer/Soldier (in a kydex necker sheath) + a trad pocket knife and if traveling any distance, a Swiss Champ/Champion/Hercules rides in the console (or daypack) as well.

Went to town for supplies last week and these went with me....

Very interested in this thread....

I was carrying a Gerber Crucial as my EDC. I've switched to the Buck x-Tract Essential....

It's not a terrible steel -- 420HC hardened to RC 55-59 (one source said RC62)

It has the four tools I use most: nice knife, scissors, phillips & slot screw drivers. All four tools lock into position.

Feels pretty good in the hand.

I've been looking for other examples with these basic tools. So far, I'm satisfied, if not happy.

For Now,

Gib
