Well, the safety on my Scallion broke, so while I wait for a part I decided to buy another Kershaw. I wanted a Leek, but there weren't any in the local area. (I didn't look too hard either) Since Friday was my birthday and the Scallion had a September date on it I decided it would make a great birthday present to myself. So now I have two Scallions and will find a standard blade Leek for another day.

Has anyone had the safety on their Kershaws break?

Keep em sharp.

Mine broke also , but I didnt really use it so I didnt pay it no mind . I guess that is a weak spot on that knife . But I still like it though . :)

I don't really use my Scallion, but the lock does seam pretty cheap- probably the cheapest part of the knife. The scallion is definetely a cute knife. Mines grey and dates from 04.

Mine bent from dropping it-I think. I only noticed it after I picked it up. Anyway, I just removed it and haven't missed it at all.

My wife now has my Scallion as her purse knife...she doesnt use it much, but it makes me feel better that she has a fast action sharp knife with her, as she refuses to get a CCW (still workin on that).

I had a scallion and I stupidly almost broke the safety. In all my brilliance, when it was brand new, I couldn't get it to open one day. Blast, I thought, the AO must be broken. I really needed it for some reason, so I pushed the flipper against a desk or something hard until it popped out. I then learned about the safety that had come on accidentally somehow.

I've heard of people accidentally cutting off the plastic safety lock when closing the knife. I don't use the safety very often but I put some loctite on it to stiffen the movement and keep it in place.
