I WAS MORE ACCURATE WITH THE SHORTER ONE--BUT WARRENS WAS A BETTER CHOPPER

I'M NOT GOING TO BE HAPPY SENDING IT BACK TO HIM

The smaller one was used in a knife hunting boar trip--worked great at that role

warren's blade is more of a chopper--and works fantastic at that role

what is it called? How long is the blade and what is the overall length? Steel?

Thanks
RickJ

I can answer as I'm the Warren in question. I believe Bill called this one the Barong. My understanding is that it was more of a one-off than a standard model, but I bet his arm could be twisted into making another. Steel is 5160, which Bill seems uniquely adept at working with. The big Siegle knives like this resist deformation from hard impacts on their relatively thin edge geometry better than almost any other 5160 knives I have dealt with. Also, the smaller ones that have been used for skinning or as box cutters resist abrasive dulling better than most would expect from this steel. Not saying it's magic, but damned if he isn't doing SOMETHING right. :)

Bill will have to tell you the dimensions as I obviously don't have it handy. :D

I looked on his site, he has a picture of it! Per his site he is busy with Blade, I will send him an e-mail after Blade and ask a few questions, looks like a great chopper!

Hmmm...I'm not finding a mention of Blade but I do see one for Blade West which is some months down the road.

I like the flat ground one. Hm, on second thought, the other looks nice too. If you are not happy sending it back to him, perhaps you would be happy sending it to me instead. I know I will be :D

Both are flat ground, full height---the swedge was added at the end on the smaller one after the primary grind.
