CRK Freaks, Fiends, Et Al...

The "Classic" Sebenza is well loved, but it seemingly does not get as much attention and "forum fascination" as the Regs and other models. There is a lot to love about the Classic models and I thought I would share just a titch about why I find them one of the best models CRK has offered. Of course, all the standards like fit and finish, attention to detail, subtle beauty, also apply, but I wanted to showcase a few other little goodies about this particular pair...

First--the simple fact that they are a CRK makes them lovable, huggable, and deserving of admiration. The Micarta is wonderful to hold and the Snakewood, although hard to capture in the pictures, is highly figured and richly colored.

Second--again, hard to capture in the pics, but the double beveled edges are a machining majesty and give it a little flavor.

Third--the stonewashed flats and polished blade on the Snakewood are great. The stonewash on the Micarta is SICK. Much more personality and character than the later stone washing on the 21's.

Fourth--the Classics have a wider bevel on the thumb lug cutout that allows for a little easier access to the thumb lug. They also have a rounded lockbar at the lug cutout which is much easier on the thumb when disengaging the lock. These two features should be implemented in future designs--they are phenomenal.

Fifth--this particular Snakewood Classic sports some of the yummiest, juiciest, sexiest jimping CRK has ever done. Functionally, it's not as good as the other styles, but aesthetically it simply clicks in all the right places for me. CRK experimented with this Jimping for a short period of time and it is usually seen on the Regs--this is the first I have ever seen it on a Classic.

Lastly--as with any CRK--pick it up, study it, carry it, and use it and you will love it.

Beautiful knives, the classic is one of my favorites and I really love the jimping on that Snakewood, those are really hard to come by, enjoy :)

Great pics! The grain on that Snakewood is enough to make me rethink that wood.

I am glad I am not alone in my appreciation of that jimping!!

Thanks! Snakewood can vary a lot in color and grain--you need the right pieces for it to be beautiful.

Fantastic pics and review MMAR. I have a large pj classic that was 98% when I bought it about 2 years ago.

I carried it for a week or 2 when I got it and haven't used it since. I have enough CRK users and should sell it.

I love all the small details that the classic has that make it different than other CRK's. Reading this thread makes me

want to use mine..............

Thanks my friend. There are definitely small details to be appreciated on the Classics. Now, take yours out and use it!
