Hello guys. Doubt many people have tried it so am not expecting much input but here goes.
Ive got the small knifekits press, works great. Been on the fence about buyin the large one as well so I can start making bigger stuff. However, I could really use another small one in order to maximize output and I dont think the large one will be very practical as an extra for when Im making smaller sheaths which will be the majority. So, got to thinkin, and figured Id ask if anyone has ever combined two smaller presses in order to make bigger sheaths and if so were you satisfied with the results? Any input would be greatly appreciated.
Regards
Eric

Just an idea, why not just make one from plywood and even if you don`t use it much it wont hurt your pocket ,.i have 5 presses of various sizes and all are made from free materials and i only use 2 most of the time..
and on the subject, never tried it, but i would think you may not get consistent results by combining 2 presses..

Id rather spend the $ and be done with it. $100-175 is well worth not having to do it myself and after a few days will pay for itself. Real happy with my existing one and dont wanna sacrifice quality to save a few bucks.

If i did combine two, the point whete they meet is my only concern but I feel if Im able to distrubute the weight evenly that the sheaths form will stay consistent. Hell I may just buy another small and a large : p

Eta-you have any pics of your homemade presses, wouldnt mind seeing them.

Thanks
Eric

just because it`s homemade dont mean it wont turn quality job...i`d rather buy more kydex or more foam with the money saved..

i made the mistake of using glue on that one ....
PS i like to build stuff that i will use...i just finished building a router table and i am working on a router table for one of my Dremels... that would had been atleast $150 going to Lowes or Home depot...

Agreed, however, between getting the matiarls and putting it together, it took time and my time is valuable=$ (says a guy with 7k+ posts :p). That and I am able to use the expense against my income as I pay taxes on pretty much everything.

Thanks for taking the time to post. Maybe one of these days Ill take it upon myself to be a bit more handy :D

eta-Ill soon find out if combining two smalls will give me decent result. If not, Santa better hook it up.

I think using two small presses to do the job of one larger press will give you inconsistent results, plus be more hassle than it's worth in the process. I use homemade presses of varying sizes using scrap lumber and woodworking vises. Let's me get more controllable results and saves me time by having several presses in use when needed.
