2 technos. Different lock bar angle? Pic

I have one techno I bought that was used but like new. I liked it so much I bought one brand new.
The used one has an angled cut lock bar. The new one is straight.
Is this from wear? Will I wear down the new one eventually or did someone cut this? Seems unlikely. I've never owned a titanium knife before so I appreciate the more knowledgeable. Look at the part where lock bar meets blade upper right edge.... Ones angled. Thanks!

Great question, mine has the bevel, it looks machined that way.
I bought mine brand new.
My guess is a slight production change, but looking forward to an informed answer.

Looking at mine which I bought new that has the straight lock bar, I'd say it was just a production change to make the knife more comfortable. The straight edge on mine is a bit sharp, so maybe they just wanted to get rid of that sharp edge. I don't think it would affect wear, all that might happen is that the lock bar might settle in at what would appear to be a slightly later engagement.

Well the gentleman I bought the used one (beveled) from said he bought it from spyderco store directly. Also made it seem like it's been awhile. The new one is from the big W's site to store pick up . I don't think the big box store sells many of these, as when I bought this one it went to not available (thinking I got the last of their probably original batch.) At any rate... I was under the impression the beveled knife was originally bought years ago? If the bevels something new then I got old stock on the new one.

The beveled Techno looks like it has earlier lockup. I wonder if the bevel was added to allow the lock bar to engage better. This might be something done as part of the final fitting and maybe only gets done to those knives that need it. Just a guess.

BTW My Techno came directly from SFO a couple of months ago and it does not have the bevel.

That would be my guess as well. I recall noticing something similar on a Gayle Bradley.

Here's what mine looks like. Straight. I bought it a month ago. I'm guessing the bevel is done as needed as well.

Great info! I guess it being added as needed in final fitting makes sense.
I find it odd that they would do that. I didn't think there would be such variances coming through production. However I don't know about machining, titanium, etc.

Very interesting.
Might that have possibly been a user applied modification? A quick grind while it was apart to eliminate a sharp spot?

My Techno does not have it either, and has very early lock-up...

I thought the same, but pcguy has the bevel too.I like that early lock up. Have you had and used that awhile?I am under the impression the lockup gets later with time and use? (my first frame lock)

Yeah you're right, I guess if there is more than one case it may be factory altered for fitment.

And yes, I have owned it for awhile now and carry/use it several times a week, and also right-hand thumb flick it every time I open it!

The lock bar faces will wear and slowly move across the tang to a later lock up position, obviously some more than others. Supposedly the face on these have been carbidized, although I never looked into it.
I do have several old liner-locks of various mfg that have worn out and now the liner lock goes nearly to meet the other opposite liner when blade is opened.
