Question about a couple of terms. I tried to the search but couldn't get anything.

What does "zip tie method" mean? I've seen it used with knives like spyderco and such.

Batoning? I've also heard this before and though I understood till I read something about lock failure. Not sure I understand it now.

Here is a thread on another forum. It will show you how it should be done and how it shouldn't be done. I'd be posting something here, but I couldn't find any great info myself.

On blades with thumb holes and a tip up clip, you can put a zip tie in the hole so that the knot pokes up, kinda like a wave feature on an Emerson knife. You can pull the knife from your pocket and catch the zip tie knot on your pocket corner and effectively "wave" it open. It works faster than any auto or assisted opener. I have done this on my BM Griptilian with a thumb hole. With the Axis lock this works great, very fast!

I think I understand the concept- can anybody post some pictures showing this being done? Thanks.
