I recently posted looking for information regarding where I might purchase a shield for a Canal Street Cutlery Stockman. I dropped the knife at a farmers market and didn't realize that the shield had fallen out until I got home. Anyway, a gentleman named Eric, ea42, said that he had one and that he would send me one at no charge! Today I received a priority Mail flat rate box with two shields, sandpaper to prep them for installation, and a Canal Street Cutlery zippered pouch. I immediately contacted him to at least offer to reimburse him for the postage. He simply said that it was his pleasure, enjoy! I just wanted to acknowledge his kindness and publicly thank him once again. What a great guy! I didn't want to use his last name, but I know that many of you know who he is and have dealt with him in the past. People like Eric are what makes this such a great community.

The kindness and generosity of the fine folks here on the porch really is something special.

Eric is a cutler, who was part of Canal Street. I suspect he was at Schrade, as well. He has been most generous in sharing his knowledge here. That he sent you these items is just the kind of gent he is.

Eric was the Canal Street cutler that was in a large part responsible for the design of the 2015 BladeForums Traditional knife. He's a very knowledgeable and generous guy.

Accolades to Eric for his kind and helpful generosity!:thumbup:
Thanks, The Fort, for sharing this story!:cool:

In recent years, Eric had a direct hand in many of the CSC knives that left their building. He is a great guy and an excellent cutler, that I had the pleasure of meeting once. You can tell he has a passion for the industry and the history of it. It does not surprise me that he did this for you. As others have said, he is generous with both his time and knowledge.

Good job Eric, hope you're doing well!

Thanks for including the pic of the Eric's Jack, Will. That one had slipped my mind. Her's another pic of it,

Generosity of spirit seems often to be a scarce commodity. So good to see it in spades in this instance. It's what makes BF an important platform. I joined BF to learn from people like Eric, Charlie, and others. And yes, I joined to maybe purchase and sell the odd knife or two. But it's the passion and comradery of members that ultimately works for me.

Another example of the outstanding generosity of the fine folks here on the Porch.
