2 variations of the 0550 Generation 2

I don't know if anyone else has noticed this, but there are 2 variations of the Gen 2 0550's. Both have the deep carry clip, but the difference is on the G-10 side. 1 variation takes the deep carry clip on the G-10 side and the other will take the old Gen 1 style clip on the G-10 side. Has anyone else seen this?

Yep that's right.... New 0550's coming off the line will have the deep carry clip. We found it to be more popular. You're also right that there was a very small batch (maybe only a hundred or so) of "hybrids" that were made during the transition. The back scale has the deep carry clip and the G10 side is drilled for the regular and it comes with a spare regular clip. Moving forward, production is designing them for deep carry on both the front and back. There's unfoturnately nothing in the model number to tell you which clip it has, so if you have a strong preference one way or another, I suggest calling the dealer to ask before ordering.

I have one of the hybrids...as well as the old style and the new deep carry only...I wonder if this makes the hybrid more collectable(as collectable as a production knife can be)

I received a Gen. 2 0550 in the mail last week. The G10 is drilled for the new pocket clip, but the metal liner underneath the G10 is drilled to except both new and old style pocket clips

Mine is a hybrid with the deep carry clip, the scale side is drilled for the old clip, but one wasn't included in the box. I really dont care though as I already swapped out the scale and don't carry lefty. Still a beautiful knife!

I also ended up with one of the hybrids. My G-10 scale on my new version is tapped for the old clip, but did not receive the old style clip in the box. I'll have to check my liner tonight and see if it is tapped for both (carrying my Knockout instead of my 0550 today).
