I'm kind of old school i guess, not much into gadgets, electronics or any tech stuff for that matter. That being said i was hoping for some advice or input from the more knowledgeable members here.

I'm looking to get a good set of 2 Way Radios and i don't have a clue where to begin looking. From my searching on the web it seems alot of the manufacturers are real big on the different features there particular models might have as oppossed to another manufacturers.

I'm not looking for all the latest features, my primary concern is realiable communication in a heavily wooded environment and replaceable batteries as oppossed to rechargeable ones.

If anyone has any advice or input i would very much appreciate it.

Radios include Amateur radio, Citizens Band and FRS.I assume with the 'heavily wooded areas ' you mean FRS .This is a small handheld unit and is limited as to output.Understand that the specs published are "under ideal conditions' .Mountains and forest can significantly reduce effective range .Poor conditions can limit things to 1 mile.Try to find test reports or better, talk to people who use the radios in the location you will be.

What's your budget? How much range do you need? How does you cell phone work where you want to use these radios?

I have a set of Motorolla 30 Chanel 2 way. I bought them at Cabella's a few years ago on Black Friday. Range isn't the greatest in the hills of Missouri, but enough for camp/kids. 4 AAA so that is a bonus.

Thanks for the info so far everybody.

As far as budget goes really don't have one, i don't mind paying a premium for quality, i would just as soon buy something once instead of going the cheap route and having to buy mutiple times.

The range i'm looking at is know more than a few miles but again in a wooded environment.

Cell coverage in my area is pretty good provided your carrier is Verizon, any other carrier is hit and miss.
