I'm having a hard time with the belt jumping at the seem of the belt when I'm grinding using 220 grit and higher. Any recommendations on fixing this problem. I have tried to hand sand the seem and that dose not seem to work.

Not all belts are unidirectional. Check to see if you have them running the correct direction.

They are running in the correct direction. I have tried to sand the joint down. Also I have loosened up the platen thinking the belt might be to tight. Thanks for the response

Nuther thought. Some cheaper brands have more of a joint than others. What belts are you using?

I've never used them but have heard good things about them. I'm out of ideas except maybe a bad batch? I've never sanded a joint. I have over the years got an occasional belt that I just toss cause of this deal. But its been a couple out of thousands.

Thanks for the help. It is all the higher grit belts that jump at the seem. I will try another maker.

Hmm I use up to 800 grit without any problems and I use several different makes. Ya bet.

I get this with my 2X42 grinder. The 220 grit belts have a prominent seam that is very annoying. These belts are a blue color. The lower grits do not have that bump, and I buy them in AO, Bora, and zirconium . None of them have that bump. But the 220's are blue and they do.

I have always used 3M Trizact belts and haven't had any issues with the seams. The first few 2x72 leather belt I purchased were a "bargain" belts with crude belt splicing. I just received a USA Knife Maker 8/9 pound leather belts and what a difference. Nice smooth seam and no belt wobble.

For 220 I use Hermes 346 and Trizact A65 and Norax x65 u936
No seem bumps on any of them
