Howdy There....!
Just thought I would ask, did someone post a comment about some where you could buy a dozen grinder belts and receive a dozen free? I would certainly appreciate any help in trcking down the name and address of the company. I know Pops will have some ast the show in Winston this weekend, any you folks headed that way..? Plan to be there myself for two days.

Possum,

Just to let you know, so you don't think it's a sale......They have been running the SAME "special" for the last 20 years. Just look in an old copy of Blade and see for yourself. I have nothing against them, and have never used their belts so I can't say whether they are good or bad(I stick with 3M), but the ad is just a tad misleading, don't you think?

I have AO belts they have I use the rough grade belts for hogging and use the 3m for finish,I have not had any trouble with there belts, once and a while I will get one that is not cut straight, but I think you get that in every belt as for the price it has been like that for a long time,i have never had a belt brake on me I work down to a used 400
and spray TFl 30 on te belt and it is like using a 800 grit belt I could almost take it from there to final finish, I have also dressed one of there used 400 belts with green compound to see what happened
I was as close to a mirror finish as I think you could get with out hand work
or dropping to a A16 3m.
don't get me wrong 3M belts are soome of the best out there but don't be so quick to cast
down a belt because it is lower price

I concur with Mr. Mayo. Norton and 3M can't be beat.

Beware of where you buy your belts from as well. Belts, or rather the splice, has a shelf life. Buy from someone that "moves" a lot of belts. These will usually be fresh.

I agree with Tom, dont buy cheap belts. Its not worth it. Even the good belts dont seem to last very long. Especially if you are grinding stuff like the CPM steels and Vasco wear. It seems like those steels start glazing the belts right away. I hate to think what a cheap belt would do.
