Anyone own a 20" AK? I am interested in buying one and wondered how you felt about it. The knife sure looks good.

LR,
I like it; it's a hard worker, but heavy. I use it two handed as often as I use one-handed. It is heavy, make no mistake, and doesn't do well on soft (but tough), springy stuff like vines. But, for limbing trees and cutting 1" and larger stuff is great. UNLESS you have the strength of Atlas, in which case you can get a higher blade speed in spite of the weight.

I have a large AK, about 22", very nice blade. Excellent chopping and splitting ability plus it is very durable. Edge is kept sharp and it cuts very well. I have actually cut hay with it - not for long though, it is decently heavy.

Everyone needs a 20” Ang Khola!

My 20" Ang Khola came in at 22" and weighted 3.75 LB. It is a great knife fully capable of chopping (one hand task) and splitting (a two handed task). This knife is at its best doing those two jobs. In my hands, it is too slow to be a weapon. It’s too heavy to control for most cutting chores. I think they now typically 3.25-3.5 LB but that’s still quite a load swing and carry. Mine had excellent steel and heat treatment. Considering how much work can be done between sharpening, I would say it does not require much sharpening. That’s a good thing considering how difficult it is to check to see if the blade shaves. When I know I need to do difficult chopping such as apple trees I drag my 22” Ang Khola along.

As a bonus it sings when it is being sharpened or worked on with the chakma.

Another khukuri to consider is the Ganga Ram special (GRS). Its chopping performance approaches the Ang Khola and probably not split as well. The GRS weights 2.75 Lb, which is about 0.5 LB lighter.

It's just good. It represents kami's motto "beafier is better" and not only that. It has beauty in its shape.

Have an Ang Khola, will travel!

My 20" AK is 3.06 lbs. in weight. Good for just about anything, even using in defence. (You know, bears, tigers, 2 legged beasts etc, etc, etc,)
