20 best knives ever made....

Well, I'm not stupid, but I'm cocksure that the 110 should have been third or fourth or better.......certainly NOT 20th.......and the 120 should have beaten out the big knives listed.
:)

If you had twenty different people choosing the best twenty knives over the past forty years, there's a chance each person could choose twenty different knives. With a lot of the knives being custom work, I would say the 110 is in pretty good company and probably the best for the money.

Not interested in many of those knives. Until they get to the Loveless drop point skinner. It made a huge impact in the 60's. A very top grade skinner. I wish I could afford one. I did have a Marbels Ideal for many years and it's a good knife. The grind is thick. The bush craft people would like it. Many of those others are a good design but don't excite me. The 110 is a work horse. I like the look of it better with a drop point blade but not everybody. Some others should have made it. Depends on who's doing the writing. DM

A few of those I personally don't think should of been in the list just because of being "customs", but I didn't write the article so my opinion doesn't matter. :) Also as stated above you could ask 20 different people and you would come up with 20 different list.

Agreed gents. When you get into custom knives it is a Whole different level of features and finish. Which translates to performance. It's
not just all glitter. There is a reason why people choose that level. DM

List should have been limited to production knives, the 110 would be in the top 5 for sure. How can you equally compare a $40 110 with a high dollar custom? Stupid list.

I could agree with only some of his list. The 110, of course, and the Marble's Ideal should be on the list. Probably the Loveless should be there. But the rest? I doubt it.

I completely disagree with this horrible list.

First of all you have expensive customs with regular production knifes.

You have that bussee monster at 2lbs that's not good for anything a hatchet or boys axe won't do better.

The woodsmans pal isn't really a knife but a wood clearing tool like a brush hook.

They listed the Shcrade uncle Henry line as a whole which isn't a knife but a whole line. Plus the old timer line was better and more popular anyways.

Most people don't carry a leatherman as a knife, so a multitool doesn't belong on the list, but the original pst would be the obvious choice.

The Victorinox Swiss champ is too bulky to Cary in pocket, and the tinker ( their best full sized model imho ) outsells it probably 5-1, and the most common folding knife in the world the vic classic probably outsells it 20-1.

Last but not least the Buck 110 belongs at the top of this list, because it's the most selling locking folder in history and will always be such. Nothing will ever surpass the 110 because it's the best locking folder there ever was and ever will be.

True.

Just goes to show the pathetic nature of today's journalism.

It's all subjective. I don't let anyone tell or try to influence me as to which knives are the best made. The list in imo is silly, period. Let's all just march over the cliff of the Grand Canyon shall we:eek:

I definitely don't let the opinions of one person influence me.
Now to the list itself.
list like this shouldn't be purely based on preference, it should be based on popularity and sales.
This guy just listed what he likes.
In my opinion the best knives would have to be easily recognizable by those that aren't knife nuts.
