My first Garud arrived today and I wasn't sure what to expect. I mainly thought the handle would feel awkward in my hand because of the carving. But it's quite comfortable. The carving is very detailed and balanced....no rough spots to the touch.

My WWII is by Kumar and I'm not sure which I like better.....have to wait till I get home. The Garud is definately a work out at 2 pounds....just an absolute monster to draw let alone use for any length of time.

UB said Yangdu said it was a blem but he didn't see why.....she's got GOOD eyes....slight split in the leather which I'll probably give the Bruise / UB approach of glue and shoe polish.

Sorry no pic yet. Just thought I'd pass along the happiness :)

My Hanuman Special - 18" OAL, Hanuman handle, WW2 blade - is so different it feels magical. Those of us who grabbed them begged and pleaded till we got 18" ww2's, which didn't feel the same. However, others fell in love with the 18" ww2's, so it worked out after all. The 18" Sirupati by Bura I've got does seem closer in balance to the Hanuman Special.

Although a Sirupati, the 20" one does use it's extra length to be a cutting and chopping marvel.

I for one, just can't predict how a blade will turn out to feel. Every one of them is unique. Most all are pretty good, but then there are those that turn out to have a bit of magic in them. Like the James Black 'Iron Mistress' bowie supposedly having a piece of meteorite forged into it. Somehow they grow to be part of you.
