I've had this one posted for a while, but no one's been interested. It's a chiruwa style horn hilt, Kesar marked (from long before they switched marks). Sweet blade. Not a blem, and never used. Best Karda and Chakma of all the khukuris I own.

Here's the deal $100 for the knife, you pay shipping. To sweeten the deal, I'll throw in a kagas katne for free. Credit cards are comning home to roost, so I've got to thin the collection. Paypal preferred, but we can work out an MO or check.
The pix are here along with a better description.

Nice looking rig!

I'll pass on this one, but it might help if you posted specs on this one (width, thickness and weight). Unless that's already posted in your link that has pics.

Good luck, looks like a really nice Sirupati!:)

You have mail. I'll take it if it's still available.

If I am successful, this will be my first khukuri.

Good choice Coonskinner!:)

Like our friend Yvsa says (VERY loosely paraphrased here)"you can do a lot of things with a big knife that you normally would use a small knife for, but there aren't alot of big-knife jobs that can be handled by the smaller knife" plus you get a small knife with these larger khukuris that is acutally functional and can handle those finer tasks:)

Mail sent.

Now I have a few questions, being new to Khukuries.

How does this model I am getting compare to others that are available? What are its particular strengths? Is this one going to good for a user, or is it more of a collector's piece?

I have been into knives all my life, but only got interested in khukuries the last few days.

Thanks in advance.

The 20" ones have more of a short sword feel to me, but I'm on the shorter side (5'-7"). I know some of the folks here like the biggest AK, which are way too heavy for me. The weight forward design and length definitely provides the heft for splitting, if you want to use them for that. Lots of folks here do. As you'll discover, each of these knives feels a bit different, even different specimens of the same model feel a bit different. I'm sure lots of folks her will have opinions on the usefulness of larger sirupatis. And, they sure are pretty.

Gotta run, wife's got the flu and I'm picking up the lad at daycare. I'll respond to your email tonite or tomorrow AM (PST).

Thanks, Coonskinner.

Pat

No, Uncle Bill, I'm a native Oklahoman from the northeast corner. If you've ever seen the movie, Where the Red Fern Grows, you know exactly where I was raised.

Some of the most beautiful country and some of the poorest people in America. I still ove it.

I think the terrain in Cherokee is not unlike my old stomping grounds.

We're neighbors then. I used to do some stomppin down around Miami, Pitcher, Commerce. Played basketball against Commerce and Mickey Mantle when I was in grade school -- got beat.
