20" Sirupati received

ooooooohhhh....just got my 20" Sirupati today. Good Lord, what a monster

About 20.5" OAL, with 13.5" of that blade. Talk about heft! I cannot imagine being struck with this thing...it could knock you into next week if it was *blunt* ... put an edge behind that and I bet the wound would make the folks at the ER think you got hit with a rotor of a helicopter.

Best of all, it is a thing of beauty.

Thanks Uncle Bill!

Mike

PS and to think I was considering the 30" model. Yikes!

Mike,

Congrats!!!! I have a 20" sirupati also and love it! BTW, how much does that one weigh, and do you have capability to post pics? Curious to see what the weight is at any rate. Give us a chopping update when you can.

Rob

Just think with all the styles and sizes, a 20" sirupati is mid size. I know that it sounds silly, but I own at least three that are a good deal bigger. I love my 20" sirupati. It is the first one that I pick up and fondle every single time.

Greetings fellow Knife Knuts!

My 20" Sirupati is a joy also. It weighs in at about 2lbs, 4 oz. A LOT heavier that a village model that I had. The kamis "thicker is better" is definitely in the picture here. It is truly an amazing knife. It will chop seasoned oak logs (5-8" in diameter) with no visible dulling to the blade. The "light" weight (compared to a large AK) makes it easier to endure when doing lots of chopping. It is a beauty also. The lines are very dangerous looking, sleek. I have mine loaned out to a friend from church right now. When I gave it to him his mouth just about hit the floor

. He has some brush to clear, I think that the Sirupati will be able to handle it without even working up a sweat. I can't say the same for my friend though! He's not used to handling "real" knives. I told him it was my light one and he just laughed! Oh well, enjoy your new toy, until you get another to enjoy!

Regards,

Rob

I remembered a joke among my friends. There're lots of samurai movies in Japan, a master samurai comes in front of BGs with his sword in his hand, and not because it is not the climax of the movie he just paralyses them by his sword's spine, always saying "Minay uchi ja. Anshin say (Don't worry it's spine hit.)"

Then we talk about if an HI taker to do the same thing to BG... their sculls not what they had been but the words are still the same.

I have a 20" too. Had a bad crack and Bill offered to swap, but I couldn't give it back. Yesterday I had it out behind the barn, attacking an old blowdown about 8" diameter. The trunk was still attached to the stump. I severed all the broken and bent fibers with a couple of hard cuts, and the trunk fell neatly into a gully. The blade went through that hard wood as though it were cotton candy, and was still razor sharp afterwards. The kamis DO make good steel!

Hi guys & Uncle Bill. This is my first post on this forum. In the 31 years since I bought my first khukuri, I have never been so impressed as I was today with the 20" Chiruwa Sirupati that Uncle Bill sent me. It is an absolutely awesome blade !! I was taken aback by the heft and thickness of the CS. It is actually thicker than my 15" Ang Khola. It also has a near mirror finish, and brass inlays in the blade. It's a reeeally sweet knife. Thank you Uncle Bill for the great service ! I'm glad you're feeling better. I know it's been a tough go.

BTW, for what it's worth, I just switched to aol with a new screen name. I've been in BF since last summer, so I'm not really the "cherry" my post number might indicate. The HI forum is a pretty cool place. Everybody keep talking, cuz I'm all ears.
