20" Wood-handled Sirupati by Kesar

Greetings fellow forumites!
Yesterday I received another HI beauty! This one is a 20" Sirupati made and marked by Kesar. It weighs in at just over 1 1/2 pounds, and has the Hill Walnut handle. This wood is very attractive and seems very hard. The hardening on the blade seems to be as it should, softer at the extremities, harder in the belly. The fit and finish on the blade is very good. Though it is not up to Sanu or Bura standards, it doesn't miss the mark by much. All but the most discriminating eye would miss the few small flaws (a few small black marks not ground out of the spine and tip). Other than these few spots, the finish is magic-stone mirror, and the edge, for a welcomed change, is quite sharp! The knife feels very good in hand, and cuts as a Sirupati should -- awesome! I've not played with it much, (just molested a few overgrown Crape Myrtle bushes on the way out to the car this AM

), but it seems to do what I've come to expect from a Sirupati. The sheath is the first that I've received from the Sarki with no name. It is very well done. It is tooled, and fits the knife well. One very welcomed addition that I noticed on this sheath is in the area of the Karda and Chakma. The pouches that carry them are notorious for having their nails sticking out, thus damaging the handles on the 'carry along' tools. On this sheath, a small piece of leather has been affixed over the top of these nails so that they will not damage the K and C. YEAH!!!

. This was not Rocket Science, but makes a BIG difference to me. I hate having marred up handles on my Karda and Chakma. Congradulations Uncle, apparently all of the griping that you've been doing to the Sarkis is starting to pay off!!!
I wore the Sirupati while on my way to work, and had several people inquire about it (mild-mannered, mid-thirties computer geek wears knee-length knife to Kroger to get milk

). I always enjoy the attention received when I wear HI Khuks in public! I've worn them so much lately, that if I don't have one on my hip, I feel like I'm just not fully dressed. My standard line for the question "What is that thing on your hip?" is "Oh, I'm just participating in Recycling" This is a good opener to let folks know about these fantastic knives and the people that make them. Have a nice day all!
