Hi Mr. Emerson,

I have a 2000 commander with Green T that I have used quite extensively. I was wondering if it would be possible to send my knife in for resharpening to correct any errors I may have done in my own sharpening efforts. If so, how much would it cost? Also, I was curious if I could purchase the thicker scales and liners? Basically I'm trying to beef the knife up a bit. I've been very satisfied with my knife. I may be going to the police academy in January, so I am looking to beef my knife up and tune it up for edc on the force carry (obviously for after grad.)

Thanks,

David

EKI will resharpen it for I beleive $15 bucks to cover shipping and handling. As for thicker liners and scales, yes and no. EKI does not sell them. However, there are customizers out there than can hook you up with the scales and possibly the liners. Also, some do framelock conversions. Good luck with the academy.

Yeah, David. Steve's right. $15 for a sharpening from EKI. There is a commander that comes stock with the thicker scales and liners. It's called the 5 Year Commemorative Model Commander, and right now it's a rare as hen's teeth. Really hard to find, but the beefier model your looking for.

The aftermarket conversions Steve spoke of can be pretty spendy. I have a Commander that I'm sending to a man for a frame-lock conversion, and it will cost about $300. And I supply the knife.
Well worth it though.

Good luck to you! :)

Congratulation on your Green-T commander. They don't offer that finish any more.

There are four or five different guys out there offering customizing work. As has been mentioned, thicker scales ca be had. If you don't go too exotic on materials you can usually get them made pretty resonable.

Might I suggest you look over on Bandit Knives.

Thanks guys. Hi John, I'm afraid that my Green T coated blade has lost most of its value as it is quite scuffed and dinged from lots of hard use in some pretty inhospitable places. It has been a user and a faithful one at that. I just need to get the edge repaired.

I appreciate the link. I'll be dropping them a line.

David

David,

As a matter of fact I just got my Commander back from Emerson. I sent it in to get the liner adjusted and the blade resharpened (as close to factory specs as possible).

Got it back and the knife is like a brand new knife. Everything about it is great. Just like the day I bought it.
