I hope this is the right section for this, my apologizes if it is not

Any mechanics or gadgeteers here? I sure hope so

On this model car the light switch for the headlights is on the dashboard. It is actually a knob that rotates rather than a switch you would in a room of a house. The knob fell off and for a while I kept it in a cup holder and was able to press it in and trun it, but now the inside seems warped and I need to get a new one. I assume pliers would work but I would rather get a replacement switch, but the question is: Where the hell would I buy one? I bought it from my girlfriends uncle, not from a sales lot/ ford.

Thanks! :bashes head into wall after trying to fix it for over an hour:

Same thing happened to the knob on my mercury sable. Mine has the auto headlight setting so I just put it in that position and leave it. As Cougar said though the best and cheapest way to replace it would be to get a replacement knob from the junkyard.

If you can't find a replacement knob, break off the end of a wooden toothpick or two, put them in the knob, squirt in some good quality super glue or epoxy, and press the knob back on the shaft. I've repaired many a radio, dash knob, etc. over the years that way.

Thanks for the suggestions guys, I was origionally planning to go to a junkyard but happened on a Ford dealership that had the part for $9!
