2000 grit King stone?

I've managed to build my self a very inexpensive set of Kings recently that I am really enjoying.

Been putting the edge I want on all of my bushcraft knives and leaving that polished look that I prefer. My main light duty is an 01 tool steel, and my beater is a 1075. These stones really are doing a great job on my 2 most used knives.

Currently have an 800, 1000, 4000, and two 6000's. Would love to fill the gap between 1k and 4k though since I have other knives I want to bring up to par, plus I have begun making my own blades. But after searching for weeks I can't find a 2k King. Is there anything similar that I could use to bridge the 1k to 4k? I know different stone makers grits work differently, so maybe it's time I start building a chosera set starting with this gap?

Any advice is appreciated thanks.

King stones are good but very basic, they make a 1200 but I have never seen a 2k or 3k. A Naniwa 2k green brick would probably be a good fit and is kinda similar to the feel of the king stones. The Naniwa will be faster and polish like a 4k but have the ability to remove coarser scratches.

A set of chosera stones would be a nice upgrade though.

That's about it, the 1200 is the only stone I am aware of between 1k and 4k. It is a noticeable jump from the 1k in refinement, so not redundant, and probably my all around favorite of the King line-up. I cannot comment on the Choseras - I have King and Nortons - the King do a good job for me on carbon and some stainless, the Nortons are what i go to for most stainless steels. If you like the Kings, the 1200 is a nice addition.

Yes the kings are really impressing me on the blades I have. I would not have thought the 1k to 1.2k would be worth it just to jump to 4k again. Seems to be around 30ish bucks (little less then half the price of a 2k chosera).

I put much work in to get my main carries to a nice finished edge, that putting them to the 6k then stropping is usually all i need even after a couple day outing. It took a lot if work getting them there though. Hours and hours it seemed like on the 4k between the 2.

My only stainless knifes are my kitchen stuff which get about 1/100th of my attention. Thanks both for the insight so far.

When it comes to waterstones don't put too much value in the grit numbers. They are all very different and will produce there own grind pattern unique to the style of stone.

Yea this is why I spent so much time looking to close the gap with a king, but it looks like 1200 is it.

I have a few other coarse stones as well besides my kings, but my only fine stones are king. I'm thinking a chosera 2k would still be worth it even jumping from a generic 800 or 1000 as a mid stone before polishing/stropping. They are pricey though so I'll keep looking around while saving. Once I get one it's going to be hard not to build a set right away.

If you go chosera then it really needs to be a set of them.

I would again recommend the Naniwa 2k green brick as a addition to your current stone set.
