2001 Commander lock-up problems

Started about a week ago, when waving the knife open. First, I heard the tell tale sign that the blade had snapped to full extension - only to find that the blade had nearly closed back. Had my fingers moved to full grip - I'd have been cut.

So, I opened the blade full again, the lock engaged. I put some pressure on the spine and the blade moved back to the handle a few millimeters, accompanied by a ratcheting sound as the lock seemingly was forced back towards the liner.

Mind you I've had the blade for two months and it has been perfect. I will clean it to remove any debris, but I think that this is not the full problem.

Aside from the occasional opening of a box, or the cutting of some tape (which is usually relegated to another knife), this knife has seen no use.

What is the problem, and what should I do? Pretty anxious as this is my EDC, and I rely on it heavily.

Any thoughts you could throw my way would be most appreciated.

Thanks,

Zzzen Dog
