Hello all. Just received my brand new 2001 model CQC7 with wave. It is perfect right out of the box. I love that hard chrome look on the blade finish. Question...I noticed on the 2001 model that Emerson has had a design change. At the very bottom of the liner lock, where the tang enagages the liner, there is a ball bearing that has been installed into the liner. Upon closing the blade, and when the knife is closed, the ball bearing keeps the blade off of the liner. It works real good. Did anybody else notice this?

Isn't that the normal ball bearing detent? It's installed near the end of the liner that bends over to lock the knife. There should be two detents, one on the locking liner, and another on the other side. Mine is a 2001 as well, and has the same thing, almost all linerlocking knives have a ball bearing detent. In fact, I haven't seen one without it. But maybe that's just my limited experience.

I did not notice it on my 2000 CQC7 or my 98 Commander. Maybe the reason was that both blades were black.

Heck, I never knew that Emerson added the second one located where I mentioned. I feel like a big dummy. Big D1
